Recap of the Plot:

Yuta Okkotsu is a high school student and one of the main characters in the series. He suffers from a tragic and painful past. One of the more unfortunate but significant occurrences in Yuta’s life is losing Rika Orimoto, a childhood friend. She was a sweet little girl and was Yuta’s close friend. It was saddening, but Rika indeed died a tragic death. Ghosting is real, and Rika is one of the living proofs. She had the opportunity to remain with Yuta, even though her form was not corporeal.

Rika now becomes a Cursed Spirit, a being of overwhelming power, bestowed with the responsibility of guarding Yuta, the one she intended to aid. Unfortunately, the appearance of Rika in her Cursed Spirit form causes horror and collateral damage to her surroundings and the people she interacts with. Yuta, in turn, feels trapped in a cage of his own power, overwhelmed and terrorized by the inability to control it.

To Yuta’s dismay, it is only Satoru Gojo, one of the few teachers in charge of an institution called the Tokyo Jujutsu High who is let in to help Yuta. Gojo asked Yuta to make a decision. He could either enroll to Jujutsu High and begin his journey of mastering his abilities or choose to forever live in seclusion, a fateful existence where he may, at any moment, endanger the lives of those around him.

The school is where Rika and Yuta first hoped to find solace, which would mean being able to Rika, who Yuta feels has suffered the most from the situation. Along the process, Yuta was fortunate to make two fast friends:

Maki Zen’in, enthusiastic and skilled fighter with a don in combating curses and her own visual impairment, which she overcomes with rigorous training and the ingenious technique of surviving with cursed weaponry.

Toge Inumaki, a mild-mannered boy with a peculiar form of speech, which is a direct result of his Cursed Speech technique, who is known for only ever using the ingredients of rice balls to construct full sentences.

Panda, an imaginative character in disguise as a panda much like a pedant, is a talking, thinking character made from intellectual pedantry initiated through special jujutsu techniques.

While Yuta is starting his training, he begins to gain his confidence and form friendships. He understands that curses are born from human negativity and his connection with Rika while born from love, became dangerous with the intense pain of her lost.

However, the antagonistic aspect is Suguru Geto, a former student of Jujutsu High who is set on a goal to spare the world of anything other than jujutsu sorcerers. He wishes to set loose curses on the entirety of the country and in doing so, wishes to use Rika whom he knows to have crazy amounts of powerful enough to aid in his designs.

With Geto fulfilling the stages of his amazing plan, Yuta is faced with the dilemma of escaping his grief or the sad reality of the situation which is learning that he must use the power he has acquired to help the people around him. Guided through the affection he has yet to lose to Rika and the loyalty of his new friends, he is able to gain the strength needed to embrace his life.

In an overwhelming situation loaded with emotions, Yuta overcomes his recollections of the past and Rika wholeheartedly and acquires tranquility, not by destroying the spirit of Rika, but by releasing it.
