Synopsis
Luca is a 2021 animated film produced by Pixar Animation Studios, then released by Walt Disney Pictures. The film is located in a charming seaside town on the Italian Rivera, which makes the location beautiful. Luca makes discoveries about himself, friendships, and acceptance in his coming of age story. The movie Luca is filled with wonderful characters, emotion, and visuals, demonstrating the joy of childhood and exploring the world with a friend by your side.
The tale of Luca Paguro begins underwater. Luca is a cautious and soft-spoken young sea creature living with his family. Herding fish and following the family rules, Luca is particularly mindful of the secretive important family rule that says one must not go near the surface. The human world, as told by his parents, is filled with fault and must be avoided at all costs.
The other side of the sea world is filled with Alberto Scorfano. Luca meets Alberto one day while exploring a world which is new to him. Just like Luca, Alberto is a sea creature. What distinguishes the two is that Alberto as a person is reckless, brave, and full of adventure. Having all these traits is something which Luca aspires to be.
Luca can’t believe his eyes when sea creatures come out of the water and turn into human being. Unlike others, Luca is fully motivated by Alberto, and the first thing he does is set foot on land. Both of them travel to the nearby town of Portorosso and pretend to be normal boys, although, in reality, they are something else entirely. The boys are still in the water, and as long as they do, the transformation is held as something that is erased, on the condition that they stay dry.
Both of the boys are over the moon when they see Portorosso and step foot into the colorful streets. The first thing they spot is a Vespa. The boys believe that by owning one, it will grant them freedom and the ability to travel the entire world as they wish. In order to make attempts to obtain one, the boys take part in a local race, something that includes swimming, biking, and stuffing your face in a plate of pasta. This is where they first meet Giulia Marcovaldo, the girl who becomes their close companion. Giulia has a father named Massimo, who is a gentle and strong fisherman.
The trio forms a team and trains for the race while continuing to conceal Luca and Alberto’s secret. However, there are complications when Alberto begins to feel excluded. While Luca is busy getting closer to Giulia, learning about the universe and stars, and going to school, Alberto fears that he will not be able to catch up. In an episode of misunderstandings and anger, Alberto accidentally exposes his sea monster form to Giulia, which results in a panic for the entire town.
To avoid getting captured himself, Luca plays the part of a stranger to Alberto, which plays a big part in Luca’s alhoff friend’s resentment. However, there is an important turning point in Luca’s life when he begins focusing on the values of acceptance and bravery. He realizes that it is of utmost importance to be himself and stand by his loved ones.
In the film’s emotional climax, during the final race of the film, something extraordinary happens: It begins to rain, which risks exposing Luca’s identity. Alberto selflessly returns to assist Luca, and both boys, during a tender moment, are revealed to the rest of the town as sea monsters. People’s reactions were truly astounding: instead of the expected panic, Giulia’s father and other members of the town treated the boys with compassion and acceptance.
The concluding portion of the text carries a sense of optimism. While Giulia goes to school, Luca gets the chance to accompany her. As for Alberto, he opts to stay and assist Massimo. The two friends are aware that, irrespective of the distance that segregates them, their friendship would still remain intact, and so they part ways. The changes that they once dreaded have now turned to supporting their son’s dreams, and this truly goes to show that love indeed conquers all.
