Summary

Big Hero 6, a 2014 animated movie produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios, depicts a robotic boy named Hiro Hamada, set in a futuristic hybrid setting comprised of San Francisco and Tokyo, popularly dubbed San Fransokyo. With an infusion of advanced technology, a blossoming and animated world of San Fransokyo merges a myriad of fundamentals of culture, emotion, and art into an epic inspirational narrative.

Even at the young age of 14, Hiro’s remarkable robotics skills shone false due to his chronic aimless behavior. Despite Hiro’s intelligence, underground robotic fights were the only means to constructively utilize his time. Concerned for his little brother, Tadashi, enrolled in a tech school, San Fransokyo Institute of Technology, and recommended Hiro unleash his creative potential. Tadashi believed that Hiro’s meeting with his innovative peers would spin his life in a different direction.

Encouraged, Hiro comes up with the idea of microbots—robots that interconnect and disassemble performing different intricate functions. With the means of a specially designed neural transmitter, microbots are remotely operated by impulses captured inside the brain. Hiro’s remarkable invention rationalized the robotics world and made a grand reveal at a scientific exhibit where he amazed judges along with other participants. Because of this, the university extends offers for enrollment to Hiro.

Losing a family member shortly after a presentation changes Hiro’s life forever. Moreover, the loss causes Hiro a lot of sadness. During the grieving process, Hiro gains access to Tadashi’s invention, Baymax, a cuddly robot meant to help ease pain with a gentle touch. Baymax calms those in distress with soft words. In doing so, he earns the trust of those he serves. Hiro and Baymax develop a bond based on trust and heroism.

Later on, Hiro discovers that some of his microbots, which he presumed lost, are still working. As he took the time to investigate, he realized someone was using them for some covert operation. Intrigued by the mystery, Hiro, with the help of Baymax, Go Go Tomago, Wasabi, Honey Lemon, and Fred, attempts to uncover the truth. In the process, he modifies their skills with mighty technological equipment and helps them become a self-formed group, Big Hero 6.

Toe and heel together, Go Go and Wasabi pull a narrow Banshee 1000 and slice the negative zone shuttle in half. Baymax captures the rest of the battle footage from the main villain. She echoes his last words, crossing out “to be continued,” with neon red, warning in a robotic voice, “This must stop now.” Each member has a unique contribution to the team; Go Go, the speedster on magnetic wheels, Wasabi the soft and precise plasma artist, Honey with her out of the box reactions and Fred, the optimistic, hyperactive thinker.

Collaborating on their work, the team learns that the mysterious person is Callaghan the professor, whom they regard with utmost regard, and who has been, utilizing Hiro’s microbots. Callaghan believes that he had suffered a personal tragedy because of the monopolistic practices of a certain tech company, and he wants to use microbots for his personal objectives. Even though Hiro is apprehensive and frustrated at the prospect of what he needs to do, with the aide of baymax and his companions, they show him that there is merit in exercising compassion and kindness.

Ultimately, the team comes together to put a stop to the technological selfishness and aid those in distress. In a display of true heroism, Baymax attempts to save a person who is stuck in a different dimension and shows his courage and his selflessness. Although for the sake of Hiro, Baymax had to make a tough decision, Hiro somehow managed to retrieve the memory chip that survived baymax, which allowed him to come back.

The ending of the story is optimistic. Hiro, for example, has made the decision to pursue the work that is already underway, which is that of Tadashi. Bound together by reason and friendship, the team has come to use their skills to aid the people in their city.
