The film begins by showcasing Megamind in his new avatar. He is now the protector of the Metro City. He has professionaly upgraded vending machines which are a stream of goodness now. Megamind is a reformed blue alien who is ready to do good. He has switched from a mindset of creating chaos to being a beneficial presence now. His genius level intellect has and always will be used for the betterment on mankind.Yet, remembrances of his past as an evil genius hang around his neck as an albatross in the form of the Doom Syndicate, a cadre of villains with whom he once worked. The crew, a bizarre pack of animated oddballs, arrived in Metro City expecting to pick up their nefarious activities with Megamind still at the helm. They were bewildered and deflated to discover Megamind id no longer the fearsome villain he was, and had, in fact, retired.
Feeling slighted and unwilling to accept his change of heart, the Doom Syndicate, instead of gaining Megamind as an ally, decided to execute their plan of conquering Metro City. They perceive his new persona as a form of treachery and set in motion a plan to bring him back to the fold, by throwing him into unavoidable conflict.
Megamind now has to guard his city with more than just an arsenal of gadgets and a network of strategies, but with firm resolve to his new identity. The situation has been exacerbated by the presence of a documentary crew that tail him everywhere he goes, and as such, recording his adventures as he balances his new role as a hero and friend, and the horrible nagging temptation of his past.
As awkward public experiences would demonstrate, and with lots of blue-skinned brainpower, Megamind must rise to the occasion and work through each challenge if he is to succeed. He meets the day’s challenges with the conviction that goodness is not simply a set of behaviors but a character that is chosen each time, even during tough periods.
Voice cast and main characters
As far as Megamind is concerned, he is a blue genius alien with a capacity of invention and a heart that is increasingly affectionate. He is, however, conflicted because he attempts to stay heroic while defending against attacks from old villain’s gang.
Minion is Megamind’s most supportive friend. He is part of a fish and part of a robot and is completely charming. Minion is a constant supporter and most of the time, the rational voice.
Members of the Doom Syndicate:
Lady Doppler, a capable villain, has the ability to manipulate sound, and possesses a impressive and artistic when coming on stage.
Lord Nighty-Night is a shadowy character who has no substance but a lot of show.
Pierre Pressure is a French accented villain that engages in crimes while pretending to cook.
Behemoth is a strong and silent member of the crew who performs the most strenuous work.
Roxanne Ritchi is no longer a news reporter. She also is Megamind’s friend, who guides him and assists in keeping him centered in the new change that he is pursuing.
The cast features a combination of both recurring characters and new ones. New voice actors of characters other than Megamind also seem to capture the same spirit and humor of the character with just as much gusto as Will Ferrell did in the first film, Megamind. The same can be said with the rest of the cast as they also have in their voicing great Minion and other pivotal characters, all of whom lend a playful and animated spirit to the film along with its essence.
Animation and Style
The animated continuation of the first film retains its vividness along with its cartoon aesthetics, but the use of modern technology in the film has led to improvements of its animation quality. The ever-busy and ‘Metro City’ still retains its charm, showcasing gadgets, ‘flyable’ automobiles, and the rest of the rest of the futuristic cartoonish devices with all the elusive and charming add-ons and layers.
Character styles are humorous and exaggerated but, extremely amusing to a younger audience that happens to be watching. The film is seamlessly able to combine the excitement of a chase with slapstick humor which, is done so in a manner that it is able to wrap in amusing and breath taking escapes to safety along with action.
